Oldsmobile, said to be the longest lived Auto Manufacture Ransom Eli Olds built his first car in 1887, a three wheeled Steam Vehicle. By 1893 Olds became Americas first Auto Exporter. 1895 saw Olds's first gas powered Automobile, literally almost America's first, the Duryea Brothers had beaten Olds by only a month, but Olds went into production. In 1897 Olds Incorporated as the Olds Motor Vehicle Company and introduced a third line of vehicles, the Olds City, an Electric Car. Olds had good foresight in adding an Electric Car as by 1900 more than half of the 8000 registered cars on the road were Electric Cars. But it was the demise of the factory in 1901 that would make Olds a household name. Olds's Factory was destroyed by fire, a total loss except for one car. There was only one man in the plant on Saturday 9 March 1901, when the fire was discovered. And, that one man, James Brady didn't just try to save himself from the fire, he tried to save the cars. He only succeeded in saving one, the Curved Dash Olds, the only one he could manage to push out side by himself. In that one selfless act, he not only saved the car, but he saved Olds with the media attention gained. Ransom Eli Olds would again prove his worth in the few short months it took him to get back into production. With all the attention given the little car, ramblings began about the it being too fragile, more of a toy than a actual car, most of which was stirred up by other Auto Makers. So in late 1901 Olds hired renowned Motorist Roy Chapin to drive a Curved Dash Olds to New York, mind you in 1901 there were no roads from Detroit to New York, but a very determined Roy Chapin accomplished this feat in only seven and a half days of mud and rain, sealing the fate of the Olds. Olds couldn't build enough Curved Dash Olds's turning out some eleven thousand of them in the few short years to come. Headless of the popularity of the Curved Dash Olds Samuel L. Smith, President and Principle Stockholder of Olds, announced his decision to phase out the line in 1904. In a strong disagreement Olds left the Company to form REO. Smith continued to produce the Curved Dash Olds but in limited numbers, pushing larger cars in it's place. The Auto buying public was not interested, and in only three years Oldsmobiles financial situation forced Smith to sell his Company to GM.
Women have long played an intricate role in Oldsmobiles advertising, appearing in Oldsmobile Ads as early as 1902, but Ranny had a particular interest in the Nude Female, as he chose both a clothed and a disrobed female as the logo for his stock. Why he chose the Nude Female over the Eagle after his falling out with Sam Smith..., well I bet you won't find that answer in an American History Book!
As is tradition at the NudeAutoMall you will find these beautiful Oldsmobiles adorned with beautiful nude girls. And of course if you own a Oldsmobile yourself, and have a pretty little lady to get naked with it we would love to see your Olds on the NudeAutoMall
