Innocent Beauty was certainly a portrait of the 1968 Firebird. |

Anything but innocent was the truth, she was all about power in a light sleek chassis. |

1968 Firebird Review The 1967 / 8 Firebird I too had in my youth, a car that thought raising it's front tires was meant to be like a cat playing with a mouse. The 421 was indeed more power then the car had weight, just begging you to put your foot down. The Firebirds ride wasn't much unlike her cousin the Camero, you had a good feel of the road and her power, a good feel of the thin line of control, where you had her and where she exceeded her agility. Indeed a fun car the Firebird was maybe a tad bit quieter then the Camero. My example of the Firebird was not long for this world though as she dropped a rod only a couple of weeks after I bought her. However I did shoe horn in a Big Block Chevy and made her a tilt front end, etc. The hybird Chevy Firebird I had for a couple of years after that, during which time she gained the name SuperChicken. |
