Our Mini Cover Girl is none other than Zafira, a Twistys Girl. And a little Zafira with her Mini is never a bad thing. Twistys sponsors a lot of cars on the NudeAutoMall, Zafira's Mini is certainly no exception, so be sure to patronize them, and remind them that more is always better.
The Mini was BMC's (British Motor Corporation) answer to the German VW, and in response to the Suez Crisis (another excuse to raise the price of fuel) a sub compact, designed to seat four adults comfortably while reducing fuel consumption. Sir Alec Issigonis was given the task of designing the Mini with a very limited budget from BMC, limited to existing engines and existing BMC parts, as well as a short "time limit" as well, ie. make all these changes without making changes, get it done yesterday, oh, and here is a penny; what he preformed was just short of a miracle. Given the imposable, Sir Alec Issigonis built one of Automotive Histories true Legends, the Mini. The Mini was versatile, dependable, affordable, economical, and practical. The first Mini rolled off BMC's Morris line, the Mini Minor, late in 1959, and literally outsurvived BMC. The Mini's twin sister was the Austin Seven, or SE7EN, significant only in that she too would later have her name changed by BMC, to Mini as well, when they shortened Mini Minor to Mini in 1961. Hence an interesting thing was beginning to happen, two different makes of automobiles, Austin and Morris now wore the same badge, Mini. Also, notably the Mini Coopers became available around that time, a beefed up performance version of the Mini from both the Morris and Austin lines, built under the guidance of race driver John Cooper. Leyland, the successor of BMC, nearly destroyed the Mini with it's takeover / merger in the late sixties, all of the manufactures of cars that were now under Leyland's control was just too much, and too complex for Leyland to handle. The Mini was literally one of the factors in the toppling of the Leyland empire as Leyland could not figure out how to manage competing Automobile Manufactures who were making cars under the same badge. With the break up of BLMC (British Leyland Motor Company) Rover came into control of the manufacture of the Mini, the dark ages for the Mini, Rover threatened to phase out the Mini many times, only the Mini remained just popular enough that Rover could not afford too do so. So Rover changed their strategy and released some forty or so different models of the Mini trying to capitalize on what they couldn't kill; an obvious mistake to anyone looking in from the outside, stretching them selves thin. But it was the re introduction of the Cooper that would finally save the Mini, more power in a little package. Honda probably had a hand in there somewhere with their co-development of many Rover brands, and the new Cooper was certainly a hit in Japan. However Rover soon found them selves bought up by a German Company, BMW (Bavarian Motor Works) and internal strifes became common place (remember two world wars were fought over the disagreements of these two cultures). BMW thus liquidated Rover Group, keeping and incorporating the Mini and a few other popular model names and manufacturing them under their own badge BMW. The Mini today under the badge of BMW is still manufactured in England and once again in the old Morris plant. A lot has changed, but the Marquee lives on, changed indeed, but alive as ever, a lovable little car in all her forms, the Mini.
Just a note. Jack Daniels passed away recently. He was the other half of the Alec Issigonis team, the one that did all the work, Alec Issigonis thought it, Jack Daniels made it happen. In todays world we all know how arduous it is to work on a car, spark plugs you have to pull a motor to change, or this or that in the way of almost every bolt, belt, or wire. The teem of engineer and a good "make things happen mechanic" shows in the original Minis. I am sure it is all thanks to Jack Daniels that the Mini is the simplest and most well thought out car to work on; the basic, simplistic, and most well thought out car that this author has ever worked on. Just a simple thank you to a great man, wish there were a lot more like you.
The Mini has almost always been marked to and popular with the ladies. The only thing girly about the Mini is girls love the Mini and love to be seen in their Mini. I think Mini's spicy Advertisement was actually for the Maxi, advertising the extra leg room with a great set of legs.
As is tradition at the NudeAutoMall you will find these beautiful Minis adorned with beautiful nude girls. And of course if you own a Mini yourself, and you are a pretty little lady who would like to get naked with it we would love to see you and your Mini on the NudeAutoMall, or if you know a pretty little lady that would like to get naked with your Mini, we certainly have the place for you to show off your Mini and the little lady.
