The PT Cruiser a self portrait. Melody certainly has a thing for PT Cruisers and who better to become our PT Cruiser Cover Girl then then someone that loves the PT Cruiser so much. The PT Cruiser is a 2005 with many of the customizing options that have built up around the PT Cruiser Mania.
The PT Cruiser is probably the salvation of Chrysler, a seldom seen combination of being both desirable and practical. Bryan Nesbitt was the PT Cruisers designer. The design that made the PT Cruiser, that made Bryan Nesbitt. Bryan was a nobody before the PT Cruiser, but when listened to, well Chrysler still hasn't seen the end of the millions made from listening to one little guy. Bryan was quickly snatched up by GM, who had ironically already turned him away for his designs being too "unrealistic", but Chrysler seems to have learned from this lesson, now paying more attention to the customer (the little guy) instead of the competition. The PT Cruiser legend began with the Plymouth Expresso, progressing to the CCV, the two having little more in common other than being four door mini station wagons with their tail cut off. Bryan was hired in at the CCV stage, and instead of being shoved in some corner somewhere, he was listened to, hence the Plymouth Pronto, the PT Cruisers prototype, an absolute hit at the Auto Shows. Retaining most of the design, the PT Cruiser went into production late 2000 for the 2001 model year and once again a manufacture was in no way prepared for the popularity of their creation. An early indication should have been in Europe, what Chrysler figured would take a year to sell, the model year was literally sold out before the physical year. In the US Chrysler figured on selling a lot more PT Cruisers, Chrysler was right, only the lot more was way over the lot more that Chrysler figured, as the PT Cruiser in the US sold out by the end of the first quarter. In the US the waiting list for a PT Cruiser was eight months long, in Europe the waiting list was twelve months, how many more PT Cruisers could have Chrysler sold if Chrysler hadn't had to turn away those that were not willing to wait? But in the typical roller coaster that Chrysler is, that demand would not last, as for all of it's looks the PT Cruiser was a wimp, and worse the PT Cruiser was plagued with oil leak problems. Today the PT Cruiser still remains popular, in spite of a few early set backs, PT Cruiser's very evident in the opposition they are receiving with the announcement of the PT Cruisers phasing out in 2009. Chrysler may be paying more attention to the public, but not enough attention. No people don't want to see the end of the PT Cruiser, but people are bored with seeing the same PT Cruiser year after year after year; each year Chrysler makes a big hoop la about the new model year, but all's we see is the same thing. Be bold, make changes, and make those changes exciting. And as the greed of the energy companies continues to rise without bound or limits, people are willing to accept a wimp especially if it looks good and gets good fuel mileage. There is no reason, with todays technology, that the PT Cruiser should not be getting at least fifty miles per gallon.
PT Cruiser Advertisements are boring, pushing prestige as if they were a luxury car, boring. The only thing girly about the PT Cruiser is girls love the PT Cruiser and love to be seen in their PT Cruiser.
