3D Flames

3D Flames, These 3 Dimentional Hand Hamared Flames are one of the common themes of jb's Custom Hot Rods. 3D Flames are not unique, as many roll or press them out of aluminium, or basicaly beer can steel. Many 3D Flames are quit shallow, others nice and pernounced, but when 3D Flames are hand hammered they can be layed in the thicker sheet metal typicaly used in the making of autobody panels by auto manifactures. Also 3D Flames that are hammered out by hand become unique by their verry nature of being made by hand. Thus hand hammered 3D Flames become a unique touch to any hot rod.

3D Flames on a 38 Chevy

The 3D Flames on this 38 Chevy Pickup, are the origional Hand Hammered Flames. The insentive for embossing Flames 3D comes from painting these beautiful Flame Jobs on Hot Rods, only to find the next owner paints over them. Ok, Paint over these! They are 3D, they are serious. These 3D Flames are here to stay. Of course you'd be hard pressed to tell that was even a 38 Chevy anymore.

3D Flames on a 1936 Plymouth

This 36 Plymouth falls under jb's hammer. The 3D Flames take on a whole new dimention as they now take over not just a door, but literaly the whole side of the Hot Rod. Again hammered of steel that 3D Flame panel was formerly the side of a box truck, nice thick and strong, made even stronger by embossing the 3D Flames, and the estencive hammering needed to raise the flames. And again the body lines are already beginning to change.

3D Rose

Certianly not any 3D Flames, but one for the Ladies instead, a 3D Rose. This 3D Rose covers the window opening of a Stock Car that will be racing at Death Valey Raceway.

Each flame of a 3D Flame panel takes on average 10 hours to hammer out. There is about 30 to 40 hours in each door of the 38 Chevy, and about 50 to 60 hours in the side skin of the 36 Plymouth. Yes special tools are used, hand made hand tools made by jb, you can't get much more special then that. So what is the charge for a 3D Flame Job? Well there is no pattern, no press, so this is not simple. Basicaly it boils down to how involved are the flames and the panels they are being made for or from. The price for 3D Flames simply has to be based on your individual preferences.
